Word of the Day

fingerpuppet-worthy (adj.): Meriting receipt of my masterful custom finger puppets.

Example: Why would I want to work at a place where my co-irkers are not fingerpuppet-worthy?

Word of the Day

I was inspired to coin a new word today.

somnambusudo (v) To execute commands as root while asleep.

Example: After getting woken up way too early by a work emergency, I spent the rest of the day at work somnambusudoing.

Word of the Day

dwab (n): acronym for Dog With A Bone; applied to a person who will not let go of an idea or conspiracy theory no matter how moronic it is. And the breed in question is generally one of those useless, small, annoying yip yip dogs, like my neighbor's Pomeranian, which spends all day barking at absolutely nothing.

Example: Donald Trump is a total dwab with his Obama birther theories, and he looks like a total dumbass at this point.

Word of the Day

My newly invented word of the day:
  • bureaucrap (n) bureaucratic crap.
Example: Getting a new server up and running at work requires more time spent on forms and other bureaucrap than on actual technical work.

Other: New Word of the Day

I coined a new word today.
  • shitany (n): a litany of shit.
Example: A permanent entry in my shitany is the fact that Support Group X tends to provide as much support to our group as a 10-year-old bra with shot elastic.

ETA: I even managed to find a real-world use today.

I was having an unscheduled sync-up with my manager today, and after I went through a shitany of blocking issues (where issues == people) keeping me from getting stuff done, she asked if I had anything positive to mention.

"Um..."

Other: More New OED Entries

  • brisk food (n): food that takes longer to prepare or serve than fast food but is still basically fast food.
  • inactivist (n): someone who desires to effect change in the world but is really just too lazy to get around to it. Deciding that she was never going to go to a rally, no matter how important the cause, that was held in 90+ degree heat in downtown Los Angeles, Karen had to acknowledge that she is basically an inactivist.

Other: More Etymology In Action

Some more of my lingual creations:
  • assholiness (n): the use of religion as justification for treating other people like crap
  • kabob (v): to knit wrong-side rows from left to right instead of turning the work and purling from right to left as is commonly practiced; acronym for "to knit back backwards"

Other: Term of the Day

I just made up another new term:
illogic bomb (n): a line of reasoning so horrendously idiotic that the listener feels as though they were standing in the blast radius of a large explosion.
In this case, stupidity was the evil step-mother of invention.

Other: Calling the OED

Words I take full credit for inventing:
  • co-irker (n) - syn. for co-worker
  • crappens (sentence) - contraction of "crap happens"
  • gothling (n) - an underage goth
